Dantooine or Korriban?

Recommended Posts

I see where you're going RJM. Trying to fool us into choosing an obvious Dantooine and its serene grasslands for meditation and such.

...when you know as much as I do, that a jedi is defined by his/her actions and sitting there on Dantooine smokin a hooka and meditating won't get anything done.

A jedi's life is filled with tasks and dilemmas and what better way to test oneself and help rid the galaxy of sith, than to make a home right there on a sith planet.

My question is this:

What do you think the sith will think of their new neighbor?

...and do you think they'll invite him/her over for tea?

@Jae, And when a shipping error delivers 2 1/2 tons of doublechunkachoco to your front door?

@Cyggy, That's what I was getting at;) Do you think it's more important for a jedi to distance himself(her) from the darkness and avoid a good chance of falling to it, or to confront it and either fall or fly?

Another reason I picked korriban as an alternate relates to jedi policy of the time, other than the using turning of Revan, and other main characters, the general consensus seems to be that encountered sith should be destroyed without much thought because stopping a fight for a conversation and debate is inconvenient.

Ever walked into a room, mowed down 5 dark jedi and stopped to wonder where one of the non-plot-essential sith would be if someone who didn't see him(her) as a manipulatable tool in power struggles had been waiting in a sith academy testing tomb with a little advice?

If you were a jedi, who chose to live on korriban, would your decision be based on the strength gained from resisting it's power, your ability to cut them down where they sleep, or the chance of helping one? If more than one, which is most important?

I don't know about tea? I think it's a good idea though, If I was a master of a sith academy, and learned of a jedi living next door, I'd sieze the opportunity and invite them over, first, to increase my own strength by testing the knight in battle, second, to set an example to my students, superiors, and enemies of my strength after defeating the knight, thereby increasing my overall standing in the sith, and third, to make a jedi pig really feel the darkside!

So yes, tea, of course, with poisoned crumpets;)

Why, I'd return it, of course.

Minus a sampling to ensure that there were no bad pieces that might spring up and attack the poor guy who has to put it all back on his truck to return to the Doublechunkachoco Factory. It'd also be my duty to lighten the load for him a bit, so that he wouldn't have to strain himself unduly. And, well, if some of it melted out of the package because it was in the sun too long (or from a judicious application of my hair dryer which happened to be on the Hot setting), I would be obliged to clean it up so that no one would slip and fall on the mess. :D

How long would I have to stay on Dantooine?

I'd venture to say only until you slew all the Jedi there and any other inhabitants you felt like running your saber through, Most Evil Ahtonaut. But if you ended up on the wrong end of a lightsaber then I guess your remains would hang around in perpetuity. :devburn:

I'm definitely for staying on Dantooine. I'm not one to go looking for trouble. If trouble is headed my way then I want to at least enjoy the scenery. :D

@RJM I could feel your intentions as I read.

Although I eluded to the fact that the jedi make Korriban his home, I must protest my earlier attempt at humor. A jedi would more likely only venture to Korriban to test him/herself or perhaps be sent there by the council or maybe even to rescue someone or eradicate a target.

He/she would probably travel in pairs, under most circumstances, but I doubt seriously if a jedi would make a permanent home on a sith world. IMO, there has to be balance in all things, even a jedi. The jedi must also have down time. Recoup time is something we rarely think of when we control our animated jedi in a video game, but in Lucasworld, theoretically, a jedi knight answers to a council and relies on certain protocol.

For a lone jedi to try to establish him/herself permanently on a sith world would be inviting disaster. I'm not sure the council would approve of this unless there was an underlying agenda. Secretive the jedi sometimes are.

If it were me personally, seeing how I'm greyer than most, I'd set up shop there for a while. I'd try to learn as much about the force and history of the sith as I could. This could go a long way in finding ways to defeat them. I'd use the sith minioins to hone my saber skills and styles and when an opportunity for larger success against my foe arises, I'd like to think of myself as ready.

Personally, Korriban is way to desolate for my taste.

I'd choose Korriban... just a tad bit of terra-forming and hydrosphere saturation by dropping asteroid ice onto the planet, and it could be the new vacation spot for the galaxy at large.

Escape... to Korriban beach!

It just might work! :D
