Commander Obi-Wan Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Count the F's in this mini-paragraph. FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTI FIC STUDY COMBINED WITH THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS... How many do you see? There's six...look again Answer: The brain can't process that word "of". Go back and look again.
LightNinja Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 my brain can process "of" because i saw this like 2 or 3 years ago ^^. So, pretty old for me
Mike Windu Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Or if you just take the time and actually look through each word.
TiE23 Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Got the OF's to worry about. I made sure to know what I missed after I only counted 3.
ET Warrior Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 I counted 6. I remember doing this like, 10 years ago.
Jeff Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 I only got 3 on the first try, it's a pretty neat trick if you ask me.
jon_hill987 Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 I couldn't see 6 till I looked at the second spoiler. Here is something simalar. Aoccdrnig to rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. I also counted 6 the first time.

IG-64 Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Yeah i've seen this before. Traditionally you're supposed to just read it through and count as you go once. And not dwell and actually count the F's.
Writer Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Seen both of those before, so I counted all 6 'F's and didn't bat an eye at reading the paragraph
Lantzen Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 I got it to only 3 the first time, and the second time. Then i read the second spoiler and finaly got all 6. The text i had seen before, so that wasnt a problem
Sabretooth Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Six on first try, because I've done this like, many times in the last few years. It's an old trick, which people never get tired of...
ZBomber Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Got 6 first time, never did it before, didnt read spoilers, etc etc etc.... so... not too interesting to me.
TSR Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 ctrl + F . how ironic i only got 4. i've never heard of this. ah well. t'is good...
MrWally Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 haha you got four? That means you still defy the claim that the brain doens't process the word "of" because you must have gotten one of the "of"s
woogiee Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 haha you got four? That means you still defy the claim that the brain doens't process the word "of" because you must have gotten one of the "of"s lol I also got 4 the first time, then somehow 5 the next 2 times...
Dagobahn Eagle Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Reading the whole thread before posting is rather neat, too:p. 3 on the first try. Even after having read both spoilers my brain wanted to skip the "ofs".
