Games that need a live action movie

I agree with Prime, but if I have to pick one I’d say Jade Empire. Decent story and not just about killing everything in sight Jade Empire had the elements needed to make a good movie. Still it would be an injustice to the wonderful story to make a movie about the game.

Hey hand it over to Zhang Yimou and throw in some Jet Li and Zhang Ziyi and such and we could see another movie that pwns that's not from the US at the same time...(Especially with the striking likeness of the Jade Empire and Old Chinese culture)

Sid Meier's Pirates! Make Johnny Depp play the pirate from the title role, and you got yourself a superb movie! I'm sure no-one thought of that before huh? :D

But seriously, I think there's some potential in a Jade Empire movie. Include some epicness, beautifull environnements...

A martial artist who defies an Empire. In the way of that 'Hero' movie with Jet Li, perhaps?

Other games I'd like to see are Freelancer and Super Mario Toadspotting. You know...let Ewan McGregor play the plumber, show how his addiction for mushrooms is tearing his life apart. :xp:

And Freelancer...a new space franchise would be nice. :)

*BATTLE TOADS*

Ugh! That game gave me the creeps. Soooooooo difficult!

To be fair though, MGS and Halo would be good, as would starcraft(with lots of korean zerg players).

MGS movie is on the works. Well, maybe not yet, but Kojima confirmed it. Said nothing aside that Uwe Boll won't make it (Thank God).

And Halo, Peter Jackson is there, Neil Bloomkamp (director) is waiting, it's just missing the funding. While the pre-production is on works, M$ is still looking for someone with money.

I think great games deserve not to have a live action movie.

QFT.

I wonder if God of War would work as a movie...

PS:Onimusha movie, it's comming... Good or bad?

I agree with Prime. At least for now.

The problem is that the cultural scene still sees the gaming world as an adolescent element not worthy of anything, where only idiots play game, people who can't grasp the concept of plot development.

Of course, it is false, many great games if not the greatest has great character development and deep plots.

Th stereotype is still there though and it seems studio executives only want movies to target the supposed main demographic for video game adaptations. In other words, dumb kids.

Sad, unfortunate, but the reality and nothing seems to have changed up to now. Maybe Hitman will do something good, I hope.

Have you seen the Hitman teaser trailer? If not, there goes the link:

Anyway, inspect it and reach your own conclusion. What does "Ave Maria" song have to do with Hitman? Agent 47, the savior? WTF? I predict this is going to be crap. It's a bold statement (perhaps not), but if the movie try to re-invent 47, and the director start thinking this will be a serious plot, then it's going to blow the movie. It should follow Die Hard 4.0 formula.

Uh...Ave Maria has been part of the Hitman games...Have you played the Hitman games? Ave Maria is straight in the intro of Hitman:Blood Money. I forgot if it was in previous games, but it's very relevant that they used it.

I do realize that there are...weird oddities that don't seem to fit the 47 character, too many explosions and too much dual wielding guns. I'm just hoping it turns out good, never said it will.

It should follow the actual character. 47 is NOT a good person by any stretch of the imagination.

He's not a bad person either. As far as assassins go...He's one of the most complex characters to ever grace the gaming world. I won't go into greater detail, but labeling him as someone who isn't "good" is not doing justice to the writers.

Resident Evil... Oh wait they did it.... it was worthless...

Doom... um... same

Mortal Combat... Why did they even bother

Street fighter... Yeppers.. High quality cinema there...

Super Mario Brothers... Um... yeah...

Silent Hill... OooooKaaaayyy

yeppers I think I can safely say that I don't want to see any good game turned into a movie... I'm gonna agree with Prime here.

By the way, the guys at Valve didn't say they would never make a Half-Life movie, they just said that everyone who pitched them a movie started out with "OK Gordon falls in love with this other scientist and..." and they would flat out say NO.

Someone needs to make Homeworld 2 a movie. Only they can't do a couple of things:

*NO LOVE STORIES. It's not about love, it's about kicking butt in space.

*Space battles, not love stories. Think of the ROTJ space battle, but more.

*Add in action reminiscent of the Honor Harrington novels and it would be perfect.

*While the movie probably would follow a single person for story purposes, do not make Karan Sjet into a love interest for the protagonist!

*Add a lot more of that delicious middle eastern music. Mmm. Yes.

Hell no, Alkonium. I don't want to see Prince of Persia get hideously mutilated by Hollywood. And Can you imagine what they'd do to Warhammer 40000? The Imperium would turn into this happy republic utopia, the Tau and Eldar would be their allies, and everyone else would be the Alliance of Evil Races.
