Happy Easter!

And... Id just like to point out that its a well known fact that the early Catholic church did co-opt pagan holidays. Easter came from the Saxon word Eostara, which was a spring equinox celebration. Somewhere along the lines rabbits (fecundity), and eggs (new life) got added into the mix.

I'd be wary of 'well-known facts', Aash - you'd be surprised how many are wrong. :)

Easter is not celebrated in my community, but as it is a public holiday we are forced to have a day off and have a bbq or picnic! :p

I can tell you're devastated to have a day off. :D

Is there a holiday you celebrate around this time of season? Besides Easter of course....

Acording to myth, norwegians get their lazy arses to the mountains to enjoy some simple living. In reality it's a regular stuff yourself holliday, partly ruined because of my birthday. Where is the fun in 18 on a nothing-open day, and having to endure countless comparisons to mr J from friends? :D

I had a pretty good Easter this year, took my niece to this church egg drop thing where a helicopter came down and dropped hundreds of plastic eggs full of goodies. I don't think that they really planned it out very well as it turned into a death match between all the children who wanted to get the eggs. It wasn't until then I learned 6-year-olds have amazing right hooks :).

Here's a nice Easter joke for you:

Q. What did Jesus say to his disciples while he was on the cross?

A. Don't you DARE touch my easter eggs! i'll be back on monday!

That ain't funny...

Gah... my church's youth drama group, H2O, was in a drama... and so I was forced into it... then one of my best friends, who is my best friend's gf, threatened to kill herself. Yeah, my Easter wasn't too happy...

Well, I'm an atheist, but I still celebrate Zombie Jesus Day (or as normal people call it, Easter) for the sake of the chocolate, if nothing else.

"Zombie Jesus Day." That's just awesome.

Oh, and a belated happy Easter to Christians and fair-weather Christians :smirk2: everywhere! :)
