Jeff
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6188690.html Current EA Chief Operating Officer Darrel Rodriguez has been named successor to Jim Ward as LucasArts President. Its said he'll begin working in mid-April. I'm not sure if I like a former EA exec heading up LucasArts first of all, but I guess besides previously working for them and what games he's worked on we know nothing about him so I will give him the benefit of the doubt for now. Thoughts?
adamqd
Yea, heard this earlier, Lets hope some "ideas" actually become reality from now on, EA's penchant for bringing out 100 games a month may rub off on Lucasarts, I know Quality > Quantity, but it ups the chances of a K3, BF3 etc

I've heard bad things about EA, but then again, I don't really know much about it. Hopefully this will be a positive change.
Taak Farst
omfg are EA trying to take over George Lucas altogether??? I think they are a useless company and o be honest i do not think we hav a chance of BF3 K3 etc

Ravnas
Well, we're screwed. These are the same people who pummeled any other football game franchise into insignificant dust and who decided The Battle for Middle-Earth needed a Sequel.

Corinthian
Oh my lord...First Bioware, now LA? I'm no big fan of LucasArts, I think they know about as much about game design as a rabid ape knows about civilized dinner conversation, but this is a travesty. If LA is a rabid ape, EA is, well, a retarded one. At least LucasArts comes at it's projects with a degree of gusto. EA just squeezes out crap. Well, I'm sure we WILL see KotoR 3 AND Battlefront 3 at this point. Actually, we're more likely to start getting Battlefront '08, and they'll start dropping them like they're Madden games. As for KotoR, well, they're going to milk that cash cow until it's dead. And then they're going to keep wailing on the dead horse. Geez, we've got a Gaming Supergiant in the works, and Vivendi/Activision Blizzard pretty much stands alone against them. How did it come to this? JCarter426
The game isn't even out yet. Saying that it's a successor to the films is setting the bar way too high--another reason why I'm actually glad there's no PC version.

Depends on which films you're talking about as to how high the bar's being set, IMO. Well, this sucks. Jedi Madden football, anyone?

Astrotoy7
oh, what a pack of whiners.. Here's 3 facts and a suggestion: 1. The gaming Industry is a freakin business. Business(aka) money minded people will *always* be in charge 2. People complain about EAs 'quantity'......... what the freak has LA put out over the last 2-3 years!!! Compared to the 90s when we were getting great throughput, and not all crud either... some of the best titles in gaming history came out of that 'quantity' ...Monkey Island Series, Grim Fandango, Dark Forces/JK series etc. I submit that it is *impossible* to have quality without some form of quantity 3. EA actually isnt buying LA, a former EA employee is going there, there is a difference!! Im sure many former EA employees have gone to LA, and vice versa. 4. Quit whining, get into the gaming industry, and bring about the changes you want yourself... whining on the internet about it so freakin pathetic.......pathetic I tellz ya!!! It carries as much weight in the grand scheme of things as a 13yo girl on myspace trash talking another girl in her class for 'liking the boy she likes' or wearing the same color as her...... again...pathetic mtfbwya
Sabretooth
Well that is what its supposed to be, viewed on the same level (story-wise) as the movies as a bridge between episodes III and IV. That's bad, because I can't quite imagine a game like Force Unleashed being on par with the movies. LA Marketing should have though up something better. Char Ell
Wow. Some people have an actual interest in the fact that LucasArts' has a new president. Will wonders never cease? Current EA Chief Operating Officer Darrel Rodriguez has been named successor to Jim Ward as LucasArts President. Just one clarification I'd like to make here, DM. Mr. Rodriguez was COO of Electronic Arts LA, so he was COO of a major EA studio but not the entire EA corporation. Based off Mr. Rodriguez's picture he looks to be a fairly young man, mid-30's I'd guess, to take over as the president of a game publisher. I'm surprised that George Lucas and Lucasfilm COO Micheline Chau filled the LucasArts president position so quickly (2 months) and with an external hire no less. As far as his previous positions at Earthlink, Walt Disney Imagineering, and Walt Disney Internet Group go I have no idea what he did there so I don't know what benefits that might bring to his new position at LucasArts. IMHO he's a fairly unknown quantity right now and I'll be interested in reading about some of his views in interviews he is bound to have over the next few months. I submit that it is *impossible* to have quality without some form of quantity I'd go along with that concept.
Miltiades
3. EA actually isnt buying LA, a former EA employee is going there, there is a difference!! Im sure many former EA employees have gone to LA, and vice versa. Heh, yeah, where did all this "EA is taking over LA" crap come from? Anyway, it does up the chance for K3 and BF3, if they weren't already planned. If that's a good thing, with a former EA employee as President of LA, remains to be seen...
