RedHawke
If we are also addressing other legends other than stand-up then I submit; Your show of shows... many legends worked on or for it and without it comedy wouldn't be the same.
CHOP-E
Another comedian I like is Eddie Izzard. Hilarious in at least 3 languages(that I know of). Nice. I'm really surprised that nobody's mentioned Don Rickles. If no one knows who he is you guys should really check him out.
Astor
I'm really surprised that nobody's mentioned Don Rickles. If no one knows who he is you guys should really check him out. I mentioned him earlier: A few more that should be mentioned: Danny Kaye (great singer, dancer, comedian, all round everything!) Dean Martin along with people on his show such as Orson Welles (he can be pretty funny), James Stewart & Dom DeLuise. Don Rickles - Quite rude, and offensive, but I still think he's funny.[/Quote]

Bob Lion54
Bob Saget and Mitch Hedberg. Mitch is a legend, and Saget is not at all like most people think. When he doesn't have to be "family friendly", he's hilarious.

Astrotoy7
I should also throw in Emo Phillips .... I love comedians who are quirky of themselves, not just in what they say. Emo has been around for ages and has a very unique style. He doesn't rely on prophanity or racism/stereotypes to be funny. Worth a check out if you've never heard of him, quite a few clips of his on youtube For the UK peeps, The original Blackadder character with Rowan Atkinson is very reminiscent of Emo's style. I preferred it when he had his medieval haircut mtfbwya
Jae Onasi
For the UK peeps, The original Blackadder character with Rowan Atkinson is very reminiscent of Emo's style. "My name is, um, Bob! What are those? Oh, those are tick bites!" Anyone here watch 'Are You Being Served?"
GeneralPloKoon
Seth Green, creator of Robot Chicken, I wouldn't say he himself is a comedian but his show is super hilarious!
Pho3nix
The best comedy show is definitely The Fast Show. It's just so random and _brilliant_.
Marius Fett
"My name is, um, Bob! What are those? Oh, those are tick bites!" Anyone here watch 'Are You Being Served?" The Doctor
Bob Saget [...] Aside from America's Funniest Home Videos, I would have to agree. But AFHV is just pathetic.
RedHawke
I trump this with The Amazing Talking-Type Wireless Goon Show. Can't trump Your Show Of Shows with that one as the american one was first, by a year.
Darth InSidious
Who said it was a trump by date? I already got that with Aristophanes. Since this would go further off topic I reply here: Well you can add that it is adknowledged that Your Show of Shows set the tone for many shows that followed, add to that the whole slew of people who worked on it who went on to become famous/legends themselves. You simply can't trump that. -RH
Cygnus Q'ol
See, he was right. He gets no 'respect' at all. Rodney Dangerfield was a comedic genius. I laugh just looking at him.

Baldrick: My Lord, I have a cunning plan... Blackadder: Oh you do eh......How cunning is this plan? Baldrick: More cunning than a fox, who is a professor of Cunning at Oxford University I love Blackadder. The second and third series were my faves... Still, I have to admit, BA1 seems to borrow quite alot from Emo Phillips. mtfbwya
