gstommylee Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Bioware announced a new planet for todays update. Hutta well we all know its Nal Hutta. Also in today's updates new screen shots, concept art and wallpaper relating to Hutta world. http://www.swtor.com/news/article/20090213_001
Alkonium Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Finally, screenshots of a planet other than Tython or Korriban!
leXX Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 "a place where more civilized people threaten to send their children if they misbehave." That made me laugh. ^^
SW01 Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Finally, screenshots of a planet other than Tython or Korriban! Yep, and it is about time... Looks good - it will be nice to have an all-new planet to explore. Here's hoping for many, many more! But...why do they call it merely 'Hutta', I wonder?
jrrtoken Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 I suppose BioWare isn't too well versed in canon. Either way, it looks pretty good, although it's close proximity to Nar Shaddaa might make the plot seem similar to KotOR II's iteration of that planet. Either way, the stylized realism really seems to shine with the Hutts: they look fat, vile, and general unappealing: Just like they should be.

But...why do they call it merely 'Hutta', I wonder? The article explains it. "Current Underworld slang has shortened the name to a simple ‘Hutta’—a place where more civilized people threaten to send their children if they misbehave"
SW01 Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 The article explains it. "Current Underworld slang has shortened the name to a simple ‘Hutta’" Huh. Fair enough - a little odd, but whatever. Adding 'Nal' must cost more money... Anyhow, it should be an intriguing world, seeing it has had so much mention and so little screen time. I hope the Evocii get a look-in at some point, too. Maybe Ryloth will be next? Hsskor/Trandosha? I would think Nar Shaddaa will be a given if Nal Hutta is in.

jedi_christian Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Hoepfully they wil add new planets in the future. I mean: when the game is out already, they add new content through DLC/Expansions/Updates....
Miltiades Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Finally, something other than Korriban or Tython. Nice screenshots as well. Wonder why they chose to shorten Nal Hutta to just Hutta, though?
Jeff Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Finally, something other than Korriban or Tython. Nice screenshots as well. "Current Underworld slang has shortened the name to a simple ‘Hutta’—a place where more civilized people threaten to send their children if they misbehave" ( starwarsmmo.net article )
Miltiades Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 >.> The article only explains the in-game change. I want to know what made BioWare change it's name...
gstommylee Posted February 14, 2009 Author Posted February 14, 2009 My guess probably that's what it was called during the particular time line for tor.
Tommycat Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I'm just glad that there isn't a smell option... just because I remember what Atton said in II
Steve-O Kreesh Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 It's not as bad a slime pit as Atton made it out to be.
Tommycat Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 It's not as bad a slime pit as Atton made it out to be. I'd still recommend a shower/exfoliation after leaving the planet
SW01 Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I'd still recommend a shower/exfoliation after leaving the planet And a 'Burn Robes' option. Just imagine the sort of quests...dark side especially. I can see Mafia: Star Wars happening on this planet!
GeneralPloKoon Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Maybe the in the timeframe of the KOTOR era, Hutta hasn't been given the Nal part yet...
Steve-O Kreesh Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Um, I think Atton referred to Nal Hutta as the "arm pit of the galaxy", in Kotor2.
Hallucination Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Maybe the in the timeframe of the KOTOR era, Hutta hasn't been given the Nal part yet... It has, read the article.
Mav Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Um, I think Atton referred to Nal Hutta as the "arm pit of the galaxy", in Kotor2.There are worse things than an armpit, care to have me elaborate? I'd prefer not to...
Ctrl Alt Del Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Neat place. For now. Maybe the in the timeframe of the KOTOR era, Hutta hasn't been given the Nal part yet... Nice theory, but no. Nal Hutta is meantioned in Kotor 2 with it's complete name.
Alkonium Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Maybe the in the timeframe of the KOTOR era, Hutta hasn't been given the Nal part yet... The article explained that it's smuggler slang of the time. Which most people seem to be using as well.
Jae Onasi Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I can see people shortening it down in speech, especially if Nar or Nal are articles of speech (like a, an, or the) rather than nouns. People who live in New York City call it "New York" or just "the City", they don't usually use the full name. Kansas City gets shortened down to KC, Indianapolis to just 'Indy', and so on. I can see Nal Hutta being shortened down to just 'Hutta' in everyday speech.
