Who still plays KOTOR?

Does anyone still play kotor and if so which one and why?

I am recommending this game to a friend and he wants to know why an old game is so good.c:confused:

Why play the game after ten years? Well, the urge to mod the game aside, it's a fun game. Like every other, it has problems, but some of those are appreciated.

 

I do find it interesting that there are few 'old' games that invariably get a thread like this, even if the forum it's posted on should be enough to tell anyone why people still play the game. Still a worthwhile question, I think.

See the thing is that i could give a million reasons why this game is awesome.

I was six when this game came out for xbox and my dad bought it for me. And about 10 xbox copies later and now the digital version for pc I still love it and in my opinion this game is not just the best Star wars game ever, in my opinion

it is the best game period. And switching from xbox to pc is like going from awesome to no life n' it with mods.

I still play from time to time to get a star wars fix (along with some of the other classics). It is a great game regardless of its age. And really there haven't been a SW games in recent years that have replaced the classics.

I've played KotOR probably twenty times and KotOR II closer to thirty times... as immersion in the Star Wars universe goes, they're the tops. But if he's a fan of RPGs with awesome combat systems... eh, don't bother.

Having tried many other RPGs over the years, I always find myself going back to the KotORs. I don't know what it is about them, they're just great, timeless games.

 

However, if you're friend is stupid and naive enough to believe that, he doesn't deserve to play such a great game. :/

Dude the story is freaking awesome, the engine can be live action or turn based, there has been a constant evolution of the game since it's conception and release by BioWares. Once you have played it, you will want to play it again, and again, and again. I would compare it to epic classic games such as FF7 which I still will come back to and play despite it's 32 bit graphics system, and the fact I have to dust off the old ps1. Tell him to get it, play it and what is the loss? At this point less than the cost of a value meal at McDonalds with the STEAM price being under 9 bucks.

Well l still play both games Kotor and Kotor2 well mostly Kotor2 becoz Kotor2 has better things like more Force powers and more...

I play it for the characters for the most part. Most all of them are very well fleshed out and in-depth it keeps me coming back. I had a phase where I played nothing but KotOR 1 and 2 in an endless cycle so I've probably played both somewhere between 20-35 times.

me to, like i said iv been playing this game science it came out and i was 6. I could almost narrate the game and sometimes catch myself doing just that.

I would play both if my machine wasn't the only thing I have and in such bad shape anymore.

 

Why? They have plots that aren't stifled, their renders in 3D are still pretty good for today's standards, it's one of the most well known games for modding and thus friendly to that end (with a top notch bunch in holowan), and an unforgettable cast of characters.

I haven't been to Holowan in years. I hear tell that while modders socialise there, you can faintly hear the howling of Fred Tetra's poltergeist and the screaming of a very frustrated Sithspecter. 3D Modelling software makes for an uneasy spirit I hear.

 

No but joking aside, I recently bought them both on Steam and the difficulty is just finding time to play them. I have 8 hours clocked on 1, but 8 minutes on The Sith Lords. One major thing about it is that I haven't found any widescreen fixes for TSL that are compatible with Steam's version.

I still play KotOR and TSl, in fact I'm going to have another play through with TSL.

I still play both KOTOR games and it never gets old. Every play through is just as good as the last. I beat both games without cheats the first couple times, once as a Jedi and the other as a Sith, but ever since then I've used cheats. Some people say it ruins the game, but for me it made it better. I was able to get items I could never afford and unlocked new dialogue that I personally was never able to get before. The reason why cheats don't make it less fun is because the plot is so great. The main quests, side quests, and especially the character quests are simply amazing. If you're a fan of RPG's there are better ones today, but this game is right up there at the top with the best. If you are a Star Wars fan however, it is a definite must to play!

I found TSL in 2010, and I've been hooked on ever since. Great plot development, nice characters-and the graphics are nowhere near bad (not saying they're the best you can ever get, but hey, the game is almost 10 years old!)

And only last winter did I find TSLRCM and other mods. And every time I install mods I restart my game (which is why I have completed the game only a couple of times).

All in all, one of the best games I've ever played, no way I'm uninstalling this from my PC...
