Guardian Omega
Well after seeing the gameplay video (a near whopping 600 megs), I'd was set on Half Life 2, until....... Stormhammer showed up with some Siege screens and info, with interesting mod possbilites being discussed in the thread itself..... My specs are: AMD Athlon XP 2.1 ghz 512 DDR Ram G4 Ti 4200 128 megs Windows 2000 EDIT: Reason I'm asking this is because I'm only allowed to buy one game this year, even if I have the money for both. Kurgan
Well, when you think about it that way, if you want them equally, this year has only four more months left. And since JA is coming out sooner (if I recall), might as well get that. ; )
Miko Reglia
heh im gonna buy JA, because of the new awsome saber combat and the new Single Player mission system and everything!
BongoBob
I'ld go with JA. Don't know what you'ld rather have, but that's what I'm getting.
Neverhoodian
Most definitely get Jedi Academy. I seriously doubt that Half Life 2 will give you the option to shoot bolts of lightning from your fingertips or clash in epic duels wielding sabers with blades of pure energy or fight alongside a big, walking carpet or a certain mercenary/Jedi 'Course, this is from a Star Wars geek, but I'd say get Jedi Academy. Tesla
Well for me it'll be Jedi Academy first then KOTOR for the PC, and then either Half Life 2 or Halo (PC Version), which ever comes out first.
HertogJan
I think I'll buy both of 'em IF I have enough money that is, being a student s hard enough already (well... economicly speaking of course)... Luckily enough I can get beer for €0,80 here when going out, so I'll manage :D
Sam
oooo thats a tuff decision......Id go with JA... I want to get them both but I cant afford HL,JA and halo for pc.....
HaruGlory89
JA, for me at least, For one thing, though Half-Life has awesome graphics which are 5x better than JA, I don't one to get a new comp just to play Half-Life 2.

You probably would not have to get a new PC to get HL2 to run. It's supposed to be very scaleable - anything from a 700Mhz CPU and a TNT 2 graphics card, I believe they said in a recent interview. Physics and lip-synching takes up CPU cycles...so you'd only miss out on the 'pretty graphics' if you've got a lower end gfx card. As for which one I'd buy...sorry, but I just can't choose between them. I'm getting both...and more besides, if my wallet can stand it.
KBell
I'd spend my money on JA, only because i love the Star Wars trilogy and all the games too.

Sam Fisher
JA of course:D I just can't get HL2. Parents.
Tyrion
Half-life2. Does JA have realistic physics? Nope. Does it have big 30 feet striders? nope. Will it be as nearly moddable? Nope. I can hold over with JO for now(I still want to get JA,I like lighsabers and the seige thing) but it's too much of a rehash(besides some good improvments and new things) for it to really be a must-buy. Not that I wont get it for Christmas, anyway.
Reclaimer
JA that's what you need.
jokemaster
Both , my relatives weren't here for christmas but are coming in september/november (my uncle comes sept. 17, and the rest visits from there on till november). Which one will be better? Unbiased: Half life 2, why? I've been waiting for it more, and it has awesome graphics and physics My real opinon: JA, I can't wait till i create my char from the ground up and turn him dark, then back to light. legameboy
I just like to point out that most of the time that someone mentions Half-Life 2 they mention graphics and physics... would you still get it even if they took things away? Think about that for a bit... (And don't flame me for this but I've played it, it seems like the foundation for FPSs (which is good but I didn't find anything that sucked me into it)) Anyway, I'm sold to Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, Knights of the Old Republic, and Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (I can't resist ). If I have spare money left over (I bought Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne for 35 clams ... but it was good ) I might get Deus Ex or any other good, innovative game. Tyrion
Legameboy..you couldnt have played Half-life2. The demo isnt out. They didnt even have a playable demo over at E3 or ECT(Europe's E3,I think). And eh, would you buy Star Wars:Jedi Academy if it didnt have lightsabers and wookies? The physics are a big part of the game. And the moddabilty.
Neko Lain
I would get Half Life 2, more value for your money!

Still though, I don't think graphics OR physics make a game, sure they are nice, but they are not basic, down-and-deep, at-the-core gameplay. I MIGHT get it but I won't be suprised if its just some hype with an updated Half-life 1.

GUNNER
Get them both. It's only $100. Just don't go out to eat as often, or buy beer/smokes/dope/porn mags/what not and you'll be suprised at how much you can save in a few months. To go to a movie is $7-8. If you go to 2 movies a month that's $16 right there. What do you want more? Movie/games.... Me...well I make $100 in 3 hours so I'm not to worried. The physics of Half-life 2 WILL make it an awesome game, along with other way cool things. Watch the 600MB trailer for half-life 2. The things you can do are AWESOME. Purely......awesome. The whole point of gaming is to immerse yourself in that world, to simulate reality, to pretend you are there. If you buy a game like JA, you are buying it to pretend you are a Jedi. The more real the game can emulate the lightsaber fights, the more you feel like you are really a Jedi. For the game to do this, it has to calculate the physics involved in a lightsaber fight. With a game like Half Life 2, it is going to get as close to how it feels to being in the real world as any game can atm. The physics involved are absolutely amazing. Objects will react like objects do in reality. The AI is the best you will ever see. If you run into a room, they will try and bash down the door and break through the windows. You can barracade the door, but the physics engine will calculate the weight of the object and it might not be strong enough to hold them. Glass will break like glass, metal will buckle like real metal, etc etc. It will be the most realistic game to date. As for the storyline for each game, well, we know the basic premise of JA, train to be a Jedi in the Academy. We don't know the basic storyline for Half Life 2 yet, but if it's anything as good as the first, it will be great. Which one to get? Well, I'm getting both, and thankfully I have that luxury and I don't have to choose. If I had to choose one over the other, it would have to be Half Life 2.
