Tying the Knot

Fuu

Recommended Posts

Its official, Fuu is engaged! (If you don't care for the details of planning a wedding turn back now XP) Yep, I've got a nice rock on my finger and a lot of things to do. Thankfully the location, food & dress are done, and now I just have the creative stuff like theme, flowers, etc.

The wedding will take place @ the Hyatt hotel in Santa Rosa, Ca. If you care to look you can Google their website. Our date is at the end of April, and we're having it outdoors. Last year it was warm and dry, so I'm hoping for nice weather (but not counting on it!) The Hyatt has a nice garden and a huge rock wall fountain, and its connected to a river walk that has recently been restored with native plants.

I'm really excited, although the squealing giddiness has mellowed out a bit. XD

Joy!

Fuu

Hey, that's great news! I wish you the best!

3 bits of advice:

1. Don't forget about your wedding license. Jimbo and I very nearly did.

2. A piece of advice my college advisor gave to me--as soon as possible after the wedding, write everything down that you can possibly remember--it doesn't have to be written well or organized or in order or anything just as long as you put it down on paper. There's a couple reasons for that. If you know you're going to write it down, you'll have a better chance of remembering the little details that can become a blur in all the crazyiness of a wedding day. My prof said he did this for his second marriage but not his first, an he could remember lots of details about his second, but his first wedding was all a blur. The other reason is a little more practical--after being married a long time (16 years for us), you do forget some things if you don't write them down. I look back on what I wrote on our anniversary, and invariably I'll read something and say to myself 'Oh, yeah, I remember that now!' It's very nice to have the reminders.

3. one of the most important--accept that the day won't be absolutely perfect. Something will go wrong, big or small. If you expect perfection, you'll be disappointed. Change your expectations just a bit. If you expect a great but not necessarily a perfect day, you'll take a lot of stress off yourself, because when something does go wrong, and it will (the lady who decorated the hall for us didn't catch that the napkins had a 'T' instead of a 'J' in Jimbo's name), you'll be able to say to yourself 'Oh, there's that mistake/problem, I was expecting it!" You'll be able to deal with it without getting all frazzled and upset, because while an imperfection might ruin a 'perfect' day, an imperfection is not going to ruin a 'great' day.

You realize, of course, that you've just broken the hearts of every straight single male here on the forum, don't you? :giggle1:

Fuu returns, and engaged! That's awesome news! You can look forward to fifty or so happy years of being married now. The best of luck! :)

I must confess, Jae, that I was expecting a short paper on this from you. :p

I promised Jimbo I'd keep it under 10 pages double-spaced. :D --Jae

Edit: Bad Jae! No edits! If I give you an inch you'll take a mile! :xp:

Good luck and congratulations. Have a nice wedding and don't forget to post up your bride's photo later.

PS: If you're a female, post your broom instead.

Anything you say will be misquoted, corrected, and then used against you.

@Totenkopf: Thank you!

@Jae: Thanks for the tips. :) I must say I'm awed by how fast time is going by. I do think I'll take your advice , maybe start a journal. As for your third point, it really hits home. I remind myself a lot that it wouldn't feel quite right if some <hopefully small> this goes wrong.

*blushes* Aww, I still love them as friends! Thanks hun.

In your pics you look like you're in your early twenties, and assuming you have an average or so lifespan... :)

Aww, way to burst my bubble man. XP

Okay, my heart's been dented, but not broken. :p Will we all still be seeing Fuu pics, though? :D

Aww. I hope ye have a lovely day. I was at a reletives wedding recently and i listened to the Oblivion soundtrack outside the church. It was lovely and peaceful and things were mellowed. Towards the end of the day, i left my mark by absolutely raiding the buffet at the do afterwards.

CONGRATS FUU !

Though if you look at the battle stats, tying the knot is almost as bad as WoW for causing forum members to disappear........ :(

RIP Sivy, Lexxy

Only, the OMNIPOTENT PRIME has come through here from single Canadian Heart-throb, to Married Man and New Dad and survived. A more harrowing Trilogy of Battles than LOTR and this man survives, to rule Canada the LAND OF THE AUTOBOTS in a just and proper way :D

Congratulations and good luck!

Oh, and don't hire a Transylvanian to play the organ. Trust me on this one.

Other random bits of advice:

Don't invite anyone who cackles maniacally at the good news,

Don't leave the luggage in the car (a friend did that...had to chase a taxi all round London >.<)

DO get pissed,

And don't try and get up at any point before midday the next day :D

EDIT: See, this is what happens when I try to post multiple replies.....Fuu fails it merrily! The internet does not like me today.

I had a huge reply for everyone.....Lets try this again. Give me a min.

Okay!

@ED: Yeah, but he's not the into the whole forum thing.

@maverick187: Thanks! I'm sure there will be plenty of left over cake. I'm planning on baking two. Yes, I said baking! Fuu is good with flour.

@HerbieZ: Thank you. I'm sure it will be wonder full. Lol, we went to the wedding of my fincee's cousin (Fuu fails grammar?) recently. Her groom played the Emperor's March when he was walking down the isle. It was cute, I had thought of doing something similar since my brother is putting together a brass sextet to play the ceremony (they had one too).

@Pottsie: Thank you & thank you! It's nice to have a bit of free time to drop by again.

@Ztalker: Thanks, I'm sure it will be.

@JasonSkywalker: LOLZ. I don't think I will be baking in peanut butter....maybe chocolate! Thanks.

@Sabretooth: Thank you. And: usjpgro7.th.jpg

@EnderWiggin: Thankee kindlee.

(Edit: Fuutarded! Like I said........merrily!)

@Darth333: Haha.....*gives RN a speshul cookie* Niney knows I wubs him the most (well, 2ndmost. lol). Who doesn't love hot azn? Thanks from the both of us. It's nice to receive so many warm congrats!

@Astrotoy7: After almost 6 years I think he's learned to share. Oh, and for those who didn't know, Prime is my official online wedding consultant. There will be no deceptacons @ this wedding.

@DarthInsidious: Lol thanks for the tips. Actually my DJ friend is setting up his decks for the reception. Hes bringing his 70 year record collection & my brother's friend is going to MC. Kikkin it with an ol'skool setlist yo.

@stoffe-mkb-: Thanks. Heh, I don't really have any experience with marriage either.....but I'm not worried.

@DarthMoeller: Thanks again Moe ^.^

phew!
