Boba Rhett
Ricardo Montalban dies at 88 Ricardo Montalban, the Mexican-born actor who became a star in splashy MGM musicals and later as the wish-fulfilling Mr. Roarke in TV's "Fantasy Island," died Wednesday morning at his home, a city councilman said. He was 88. Montalban's death was announced at a meeting of the city council by president Eric Garcetti, who represents the district where the actor lived. Garcetti did not give a cause of death. "The Ricardo Montalban Theatre in my Council District -- where the next generations of performers participate in plays, musicals, and concerts -- stands as a fitting tribute to this consummate performer," Garcetti said later in a written statement. Montalban had been a star in Mexican movies when MGM brought him to Hollywood in 1946. He was cast in the leading role opposite Esther Williams in "Fiesta." He also starred with the swimming beauty in "On an Island with You" and "Neptune's Daughter." A later generation knew Montalban as the faintly mysterious, white-suited Mr. Roarke, who presided over an island resort where visitors were able to fulfill their lifelong dreams. "Fantasy Island" received high ratings for most of its 1978-1984 span on ABC television and still appears in reruns. How could they not mention Khan? Godspeed, Ricardo. I'm sure you're somewhere out there floating on a large couch made of rich Corinthian leather.
The Doctor
... NO! D: He was such a great actor, his stint on that travesty of a show 'Fantasy Island' notwithstanding.
jrrtoken
The end of an era, with plenty of loose clothing seemingly sewn with rich, Corinthian leather. Oh, and it's Khan, not Kahn. Jae Onasi
RIP, Mr. Montalban. I loved watching you in Fantasy Island and Star Trek. You made what could have been horribly cheesy cake-walk parts into people with emotional depth and realistic motives, and you were the best actor in all the Star Trek films. Arátoeldar
Rest In Peace Ricardo Montalbán. A true class act. Which is a dying breed in Hollywierd. http://www.aintitcool.com/node/39767 I highly suggest you take a look at his film work before 1967 to truly appreciate him as an actor. Char Ell
Fare thee well, Ricardo Montalban. Your intense portrayal of Khan brought out the primal passion in an otherwise fairly staid Star Trek.
Samnmax221
Ricardo Montalban and Patrick McGoohan in one day. I would sacrifice a million Katie Couric's each to get them back.

The Doctor
Wouldn't it be awesome if Bill Shatner attends his funeral, and goes up to the pulpit to "say a few words"? And all he says is "KHAAAAAAAAN!"? Epic. XD
