Jeff
When playing first or third person games, do you use a normal (up is up and down is down) or inverted Y-axis?
jrrtoken
Since I suppose you mean using a thumbstick on a gamepad, I'd use inverted Y-axis for freelook, much like with a joystick in a flight sim. With a mouse, it's standard, freelook or not.
Alkonium
On foot and in land vehicles, I'll use normal, but for air vehicles, I'll use inverted.
Astor
I use inverted. I don't understand why, but I find it's much easier to play games with an inverted axis.
Miltiades
Normal. I find it easier.

Litofsky
I've always found Normal to be easier than inverted.
TriggerGod
I tried playing Halo 1 with inverted once. I quit before it was too late.
SG-17
I have always played inverted. I don't know why but I think it had something to do with Syphon Filter.
EnderWiggin
Inverted just makes more sense to me. _EW_
M@RS
Normal, I've tried to get used to inverted, and just can't.

Q
On foot and in land vehicles, I'll use normal, but for air vehicles, I'll use inverted. This is what I do.
Jeff
Inverted just makes more sense to me. _EW_ Same, honestly I don't know how people play with "normal" and I don't know why normal is the default in all games. For me part of it might be the fact that on PC X-Wing was one of the first direct control games I played (I probably had mostly only played adventure games before). acdcfanbill
I chose Inverted because joysticks require inversion and the mouse as well if it's controlling a ship. Otherwise for my mouse, up is up, for fps or windows.
Tommycat
I'm normally inverted. Used to it since early Quake days

ForeverNight
Normal, there's a reason it's called as such.

Zeaband
Inverted for any kind of flying however for some reason in ground based games I use normal.
Jasper_Kazai
I can't stand using inverted. There was one game where it was inverted by default and I got used to it, but the second I found out that you could change it, I did.
purifier
Most of the time I play normal, but then again.. inverted when I'm flying something.
Kurgan
I don't recall, but I think I may have started out playing JK1 inverted, but somehow I switched and got used to it, and now that's all I use. It feels more intuitive (in a flight sim it would be the opposite of course). If I were moving my mouse around the screen, that's where my crosshair would go in a game, and the character's "head" etc).
Gamma097
Inverted when in a air vehicle and normal when I'm not in one.
