The violent, the assasins, the tyrants, and the war-mongers lament their pitiless mischiefs in the river, while centaurs armed with bows and arrows shoot those who try to escape their punishment. The stench here is overpowering. This level is also home to the wood of the suicides- stunted and gnarled trees with twisting branches and poisoned fruit. At the time of final judgement, their bodies will hang from their branches. In those branches the Harpies, foul birdlike creatures with human faces, make their nests. Beyond the wood is scorching sand where those who committed violence against God and nature are showered with flakes of fire that rain down against their naked bodies. Blasphemers and sodomites writhe in pain, their tongues more loosed to lamentation, and out of their eyes gushes forth their woe. Ratmjedi Posted May 7, 2003 Share Posted May 7, 2003 What's funny is that we just Finished Reading Dante's Inferno in my English Class and we watched this bad ass movie about the 9 levels of hell. It was pretty intresting and I know that you guys would of loved to watch it cause my eyes were glued to the board and it was just so intresting. I think that the worst level is offcourse level 9. You get to stay with the Devil in his icey prison and you cannot move. There was also a cool story on level 5-6 because there were two guys that were responsible for Dante's exhile who were there and one of the guys sent the other guy to prison with all of his sons and he had to watch every single one of them die. Because of this he had a lot of hatred twords the other man, but afterwards when they went to hell, the guy who had to watch his son's die had to eat away at the brain of the other guy for all of eternity.
