RC-1162 Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 hey guys, ive been thinking, since there are various levels of fans here like hardcore, casual, etc, i was wondering, what would you do if sombody passed an insult or a demeaning joke about Star Wars? vote above.
TSR Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 surely, most of them are a teensy weensy bit OTT dont you think? i mjean, star wars fans (sadly) don't have the best of reputations, but killing someone for disliking it? ..... (ponders on the thought...)
ChAiNz.2da Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 My first reaction was to "ignore him"... but I got to thinking.. why not ask them to explain "why".. seems most spammers stop at that moment, but for those who make a good argument makes for a good forum debate (as long as it's kept civil)... If you have an opinion.. you'd best be able to back it up on a public forum so.. I voted "Ask him (her) what they're talking about.. "
stingerhs Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 i'm with ChAiNz: if they make any statement, but can't back it up, they've just made a fool out of themselves.
Darth Manus Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 My thoughts exactly. Some people just think it's fun to bash everything for no good reason.
mimic666 Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 I agree with Chainz on this one since when this sort of thing happened to me there wasn't a one on one 5hting, it was more like 5 or 6 on one so killing the guy would be out of the question. PS: Humans can be so cowardly most of the time... ya know?
Mace MacLeod Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 Hmm...all depends on the nature of the insult. Something like "Man, the dialogue in Episode I really sucks," or "I can't believe the Stormtroopers became such pussies in ROTJ--'Oh no! Teddybear creatures! With slingshots and catapults! We'd better drop our blaster rifles, forget our years of military training and run away!'" then I'd be forced to agree. On the other hand, some crack like "The cylons could kick Rogue Squadron's butts," or "Star Wars...? Isn't that the one with Captain Kirk...?" would call for immediate gruesome violence. Anything along the lines of "Han Solo sucks ass" or "Darth Vader's a wimp" can only properly be met with having the speaker shaved, chemically castrated and destroyed.
Darth InSidious Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 Start a conversation, and hopefully, a reasoned argument. If the person in question is incapable of such a thing, I would come up with a witty riposte and then ignore them.
igyman Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 If I paid attention to any idiot who said something I didn't like where would the killing spree end? Just ignore them.
DarthDeceptus Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Depends... On some things I would probably agreed. For others, I would just ignore that person.
Det. Bart Lasiter Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 I wouldn't care. I'm (more or less) a fan of Star Wars, they're not.
Hallucination Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 I'd ignore him, I don't really care and everyone has their own opinions. And nice job misspelling the word murder, RC.
MTV2 Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 i'm with ChAiNz: if they make any statement, but can't back it up, they've just made a fool out of themselves. yup. same here. BTW: you spelt Murder wrong...redrum..not rudrum.
Sabretooth Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Meh. I just tell him he is too lame and uneducated to be as elite and knowledgable as a SW Fan. Works every time.
Canderous_ordo1 Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 well killing him on the spot would be my answer
90SK Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 I'd probably just ignore him. He'd be the one missing out anyway.
Cygnus Q'ol Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 I would say something like, "I find your lack of faith, disturbing" ...then proceed to cut the wind from his trachea.
igyman Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 Just ignore them, there's no need for mindless bloodshed. (Damn, that pacifist package must be kicking in )
JediMaster12 Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 Uh oh. igyman is going soft on us I voted to ignore the dude. I usually talk to other forumites about what SW haters say and we pass it off as a joke. If it is a particularly stupid statement like I hate SW then I would ask why. Other than that, why all the bloodshed? We have enough going on overseas.
RC-1162 Posted May 13, 2006 Author Posted May 13, 2006 i agreed with asking him what hes on about, then ignoring him or shouting "STFU you *******" into his face depending on what it is id most probably pull of an HK 47 classic on him then make him piss off if i was in a hurry though. and Hall, like i ive a sh*t how i spelt it? you get my meaning dontcha?
igyman Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 We get it, but you didn't have to use s**t, you could have said crap, damn, rat's a$$, etc.
Lantzen Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 Have anyone seen the movie with the guy with a puppet when episode 2 was at theater? He is insulting all the star wars fan, but i can't stop laugthing when i see that movie. But it depands on the joke, some jokes about star wars is really funny. But i would probaly not care, im not a real star wars fan boy, i just think most of the games and all movies are good. But i have never read one of the books or anything like that.
