tk102 Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Starwarsknights.com has recently released an AJAX chatbox on its site for public usage. You're invited to use it anytime you like and it doesn't require anything more than your browser. You can access the chatbox now from the starwarsknights.com home page (following the Chat link in the toolbar) or directly from here: http://www.starwarsknights.com/chat.php
Ghost Down Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Sweet! Got a suggestion though. How about adding an ''Who Is Online?'' function? - Ghost Down
Sabretooth Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Looks like a pretty warm place from what i've seen. Just a lot of server errors...
Jeff Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Pretty cool feature. Rhett and I had a nice conversation last night
milo Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Neat-o. Too bad all the chat is "hi guys" "anyone here" "hi" "hey" *long pause* "well gotta go" "bye".
Commander Obi-Wan Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Cool. I should check it out. See if I can produce a conversation with somebody. EDIT: tk = awesome
Jae Onasi Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 It just takes people a little time to using it. Thanks tk102 for all the hard work!
Bob Lion54 Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 tk is the MAN! This thing is cool. I'm chatting right now.
Emperor Devon Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Thanks for setting this up, tk! I'll test it sometime tonight. No one's online right now.
The Doctor Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Not really that different from the IRC channel that was up on the page, really... It would get more activity if it were placed on the forums themselves, methinks.
KotO[REvan] Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Good feature, nice going TK. It can be amusing if there are a lot of people on. Or if just one person's active.
HerbieZ Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Not really that different from the IRC channel that was up on the page, really... It would get more activity if it were placed on the forums themselves, methinks. That quote gets a hearty 'indeed' from me!
Kitty Kitty Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Neat little chat app. Of course, not many in there at this hour... But there's some "interesting" characters up at this time, let me tell ya.. -Kitt
SithStarSlayer Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Nice Avatar, "Commander Obi-Wan"... Even better smile, "XoXoX Alex OxOxO" ;o)
Emperor Devon Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Is it just me, or does everyone else get 'Error accessing the server! requestNewMessages catch: Permission denied to call method XMLHttpRequest.open' all the time?
Sabretooth Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Its been coming up since yesterday. TK said it might come, he's been working heavy on the thing. Another downside is that the font-colour no longer seems to be changing. TK says he was working on it, though...
stoffe Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Is it just me, or does everyone else get 'Error accessing the server! requestNewMessages catch: Permission denied to call method XMLHttpRequest.open' all the time? I've never seen that error. I've gotten the 'Error accessing the server!' message a few times when tk102 has been working on improving the chatbox though. Perhaps it has to do with the security settings in your browser if you get that message all the time? Which browser are you using? Its been coming up since yesterday. TK said it might come, he's been working heavy on the thing. Another downside is that the font-colour no longer seems to be changing. Hmm, font colors have been working again for me since yesterday afternoon.
Sabretooth Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 And before I forget, is it possible to add a GMT changer? Sometimes you need to post to just know the time since the last post.
Emperor Devon Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 I've never seen that error. I've gotten the 'Error accessing the server!' message a few times when tk102 has been working on improving the chatbox though. I got that error a ton of times, though it switched to the one I mentioned. Perhaps it has to do with the security settings in your browser if you get that message all the time? Which browser are you using? Firefox. The problem seems universal, since I get 'Error accessing the server! requestNewMessages catch: [object Error]' when going to the chatbox with IE.
Darth333 Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Firefox. The problem seems universal, since I get 'Error accessing the server! requestNewMessages catch: [object Error]' when going to the chatbox with IE. I'd check the security settings. Also make sure you type http://www.starwarsknights.com/chat.php and not http://starwarsknights.com/chat.php in the address bar.
