Alkonium Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 In response to Tysyacha's threads about Sean Connery, Roger Moore, and Pierce Brosnan as James Bond, I decided to ask people who they preferred in the role. Official actors only, though. I personally preferred Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig, as they seemed the most serious during their respective tenures.

Jeff Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Roger Moore is my favorite. I like how he adds in subtle humor to his lines and just his overall portrayal of the role is my favorite. I'd say Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan are tied for my second spot. I like them both very well. I didn't like Timothy Dalton that well, and George Lazenby was no good at all. I have to see at least one more of Craig before I judge him in with my top 3 others. I liked him very well in his debut.
HerbieZ Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Timothy Dalton. I prefer his films as he did play Bond without making it look like some cheesy, slightly comedic role. Brosnan ruined it with the last film although he was pretty good at times. Craig -meh- he was good but when you watch a classic Bond movie after watching Casino Royale, you miss the quips and sly humour of any of the old Bonds. So like Moeller said, i'll have to wait a little before i judge him.

You have never even seen Daniel Craigs movie and you say he's better than Moore? How can you rank him at all?
Commander Obi-Wan Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 My favourite James Bond would have to be Sean Connery. The first Bond (to my knowledge), and the best. I just like the way he portrays Bond. He just seems perfect for the role. Next would be Roger Moore. I also enjoyed his films. He was pretty good. But, not good enough to best Connery, in my opinion. I'd toss it up between Craig and Brosnan. I really enjoyed Casino Royale (I've seen it four times and counting). I think he did some well in his debut Bond film. Shows him from a different perspective. Brosnan was phenomenal in Goldeneye, but his other movies were okay and I didn't like TND. Dalton was decent, IMHO. And Lazenby was horrible. Plus he was Australian.

Roger Moore was my second favorite. Pierce Brosnan did a good job too, but his movies were not as good as the Connery movies in my opinion.

Easy I hate Moore's Bond with a passion. It's too over the top and extremely cheesy. Don't get me wrong, I do think that Roger More is an excellent actor. I loved him in Ivanhoe, The Saint, The Persuaders!, The Wild Geese, North Sea Hijack, and The Sea Wolves.

Roger Moore is better imo, but I like his movies, not particularly his performance. I guess it is either Pierce Prosnan or Daniel Craig. The new bond with Daniel Craig is IMO a way better movie than all of Prosnan's though.

Lazenby just plain out sucked. Craig was somebody that i really liked, and he sticks pretty close to the original Bond that was in the novels.

mimartin Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I voted for Sean Connery. He is one of my favorite all time actors. Second it would be close between Pierce Brosnan and Timothy Dalton. I always saw Pierce Brosnan as James Bond even back in his Remington Steele days. I liked Timothy Dalton’s adaptation of James Bond best. He made the man behind the gun more realist (although that might have been the directors and producers work). I now find Roger Moore’s Bond very cheesy, but I loved them as a child. Didn’t care for George Lazenby and haven’t seen Daniel Craig’s version.
Jae Onasi Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Dalton is a great actor--I first saw him in "The Lion in Winter" and he did a fantastic job playing King Phillipe of France. I've been following his career since then. I liked him in the Bond films, but I like Brosnan and Moore better.
