Top Seven of 2007

I did a similar thread last year.

Moment (Nothing that I can think of currently): -

Memory (Hopefully this Christmas): Christmas is my favourite time of the year and I hope it to be a pleasant one (other than a certain thing I'm having to do at school).

Book (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows): An excellent end to a good series, although not as good as the third part, which will remain my overall favourite.

Television Programme (Heroes): I was tempted to have Doctor Who or Life on Mars, but being a programme that has over twenty episodes and its storyline over several months (forgive me, I'm British and we recieved the programme on BBC 2 in July), it has been an interesting programme to watch. I'm looking forward to hopefully recieving the DVD boxset on Christmas.

Song/Album (Nothing too good this year): -

Film/Game (Rush Hour 3): A funny and exciteable film, which was just as good as its predecessors. Too bad that in the UK, it is being released on DVD on Boxing Day, so I'll have to try and buy it in the New Year.

Other (Nothing that I can think of currently): -

TV Program: Heroes/Dexter.

Song/Album: Nothing in particular.

Moment: Getting my first car.

Memory: Watching the first episode of the Price is Right with Drew Carey.

Book: Star Wars EU is just about all I read outside of school, and I had already gotten enough of that a year or so ago. It stopped being good/interesting after the Jedi Academy series.

TV Program: I haven't seen much (or any, for that matter) of Season 7, but I loved the Season 6 finale of Smallville.

Song/Alblum: Minutes to Midnight - Linkin Park

Film: Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

Game: Guitar Hero III, Crysis

Other: Watching the Colts beat the Patriots in the AFC championship.

Worst of 2007: Spiderman 3 (even though I originally liked it, I soon came to realize its true suckage), missing all of Smallville Season 7, and rarely ever getting to see/talk to one of my best friends

Moment: None, really. Probably when I got my SSC results and got an admission to a Science college, but nah.

Memory: When I received the first (yet miserably small) salary in my life. This is big for me, because in India, teenagers don't work, until maybe a side-job when in a very high college. (And BTW, I think this and Top Moment are interchangeable)

Book: I still regret not reading anything this year. Then again, I have more or less given up on reading run-of-the-mill fiction. I suppose I'll pick Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts, although it's not from 2007.

Television Programme: I abhor Indian Television, and that also applies to television in general, except some nice and geeky shows. :D I'll say that the anime Ergo Proxy topped for me this year.

Song/Album: Nightwish's Dark Passion Play is pretty good as an album overall. It isn't ownage awesome, but I liked it. Epica's Divine Conspiracy comes close, too.

Film/Game: Saw a lot of movies this year, and was impacted by many. 300 is of course, the first that comes in mind, and I'll go with that. :D

Video Game!!: As many of you know, my computer utterly sucks, so I wasn't able to play most of the hyped games around. I did enjoy Portal a lot, followed by Half-Life 2: Episode Two and then Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword.

Game: Mass Effect

Moment:When I was working on my 'teaching practice' (for teacher) at my last day, the whole class I was teaching burst into applause after a very neat music lesson. Goosebumps....

Memory:My first driving lesson which turned into a huge frickin succes/previous

Book:Haven't read much this year, but the last Harry has the quality feel of the first 4 books again. Realy loved it. :)

Television Programme:I realy enjoyed Life on Mars (thanks for mentioning!) when it aired here. Too bad it aired so late and I had to quit watching it in favor of school. But it's just brilliant. The music, the clothing, the people...brilliant. Not to mention the time-plot...

But I have to go for Heroes as well. We just finished season 1 here. I never thought a Super-hero series could be done this way. It's more...drama...then action.

Song/Album:An old song called 'Exploded' by Jordan and Baker became an 'theme song' for the group I go out with. We requested it every time :)

Game:Played no real...big games this year. Battlefield 2142 tends to 'lose connection to the server' after a random amount of time (thanks, EA support!) and Jade Empire is realy an 2006 game. Have played Prostreet at a friend of mine though, definately going to buy it. Every...'puberal' element of the series has been removed in favor of an 'real' approach. Loving it!

Film:300 (we still tend to quote "We are...SPARTANS!" when going out :xp:

Moment: England Scotland getting humped in the Euro qualifiers.

Better :xp:

Book: Nothing released this year. The latest Harry Potter missed out on a wonderful opportunity for character development with the whole tent scenario but the book just seemed to plod on - as usual - without anyone changing at all... despite the seven years not one character has developed. I honestly wonder whether or not Harry and his pals are trapped in some sort of Public School time warp back to the 1900s. Still fun, though. And I've yet to look at the Booker Prize winners. But of what I've read this year? Umm... Our Man in Havana? Great Expectations? Don't make me choose.

Game Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer.

Film: 300 is the first thing that springs to mind.

Album/Song: Would have said the Arctic Monkey's latest album but then I found out that Bob Dylan decided he wanted more money and no one can ever hope to beat Bob. And I don't care if it was released in 2006... I only heard it this year.

No idea about the others.

Moment: Realising that mum was all right, contagious pessimism notwithstanding. Tht and getting an A for my killer end of semester exam in July

Memory: Quiet, pleasant days, travelling around UK and Europe with my sis.

Book: My Sister's Keeper, The Time-Traveller's Wife, re-reading His Dark Materials trilogy:)

TV: I don't watch any tv these days:P

Song: The Blues by Switchfoot and Stolen by Dashboard Confessional.

Game: Jade Empire and NWN.

Moment: Getting a better job, I suppose.

Memory: Getting that Xbox 360... seriously though, I can't think of any other one.

Book: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

TV Program: Kitchen Nightmares

Film: 300/Bourne Ultimatum

Game: BioShock (haven't played Mass Effect yet)

Song: I'd have to agree with Moel here, "You Know My Name" would have to be one of my tops songs of '07.

Moment: Knowing that I am not going to die anytime soon luckily, and that she is willing to follow me to the grave.

Memory: Nothing Too Special, A Quiet Year.

Book: That/those Gundam AoZ novels.

TV Program: Heroes?

Song/Album: Nil~

Movie/Game: Monster Hunter Portable 2nd.

Other: Well, still stuck 7 timezones away, sigh.

Moment: definitely when we won our sixth consecutive state title in Academics(Single A, of course).

Memory: That entire season; my friends who graduated last year.

Book: Not a new release, but the best book I've read this year has got to be Island by Aldous Huxley. The Doors of Perception was amazing as well. Best essay has got to be "Politics and the English Language," by George Orwell.

Television Program(me): I don't buy into the Retail Media.

Song/Album: Probably Porcupine Tree's Fear of a Blank Planet

Film/Game: Haven't watched a single movie this year, and Medieval II: Total War expansion takes the cake for new release. Likely just because I've not gotten Mass Effect yet.

Other: Nothing really to mention, although the future looks bright for 2008.

Moment: The moment I first posted on Holowan Laboratories, which marked my entrance to the world of modding.

Memory (This school year so far): Being able to do things which nobody would ever expect from me: being loud, speaking out, singing out, sharing secrets from my past, having a plethora of friends at school, etc.

Book (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows): A perfect end to a magical series; Though, I wish that there was more content than there was. To the "Boy Who Lived".

Television Program (Monk/Psych): Two good mystery shows; Both keeping their good reputation. Excellent crime-solving episodes this season.

Song/Album (None from this year): -

Film/Game (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix): Missed all of the stuff cut in the transition from book to movie. Exactly as I imagined when I read it upon its' hardcover release.

Most Embarrassing Moment: -Saying "Macbeth" in my school's theater.

Other: -5th year of speaking el español.

-Began final year of high school. (18th birthday in 1 month, 11 days)

Moment: Fun year, but no particular moment that stands out.

Memory: My bizarre definition of a vacation, spending two weeks indoors in SoCal learning how to better argue with people oblivious to the sun-drenched July/August beaches outside. (Yes, I chose to do that! And voluntarily, I might add!)

Book: Infinity and the Mind, I guess. Lots to choose from this year, but I'll pick it on account of being so outside the norm for me to read (maths?! o NOZ!) and still being enjoyable.

Television: Not watching TV didn't change this year.

Song/Album: Neither did not listening to music. :p

Game: Planescape: Torment, or counting ones that came out this year, Mask of the Betrayer. (See this post for reasons why you should play those in '08 if you haven't yet. That means you, Jae. :xp: Smurf teh GWs. )

Film: Howard the Duck. :xp: I saw that abominable thing during my two weeks of debate... it was so bad it was good! Atrocious acting, characters so cookie-cutter in persona you'd think their writers were cookie-cut themselves, lines so awful I couldn't think of anything worse if I'd intentionally tried... really, it's simply so horrible it's excellent!

Other: Not really sure what this fits into, but being able to play D&D with Jae, Samuel & co - quite satisfying to finally be doing some PnPing after NWN1 & 2 for several years!

My conversations with Samuel also get an honorable mention. :D Drink up the women, eat the wine, and drink the vice sir. They want out. Do not let them out. Your stomach is an abjuration of the utmost power.
