Me and a friend are heading to the late show tonight. I have reservations based on what I have heard, but I will be sure to give you all the straight dope afterwards...

...because you know I am the most unbiased person on the Interwebs, bar none.

Your kidding right? I mean I could sight Empire at War as a source - a Star Destroyers, is a hell of a lot bigger with an awful lot more men, fighters, defences and technology than a victory/ventator (which hint were still in the Empire Fleet - source again Empire at War for me) - and finally Super Star Destroyers and two frigging Death Stars - the Republic built what on its on intuition? Your trying to argue the Old Republic would have a chance in a war with the Empire? The only person making preposterous presuppositions around here is you.

I'm not saying the Empire didn't have a significantly superior military (for the record, the Republic was producing Imperator-class Star Destroyers by the end of the Clone Wars), but the problem is the idea that a galaxy-spanning Republic (even after a major military buildup) would have anything to fear from a criminal syndicate.

Ah right :xp:

I think the Republic could squash the Hutts if it wanted, but it would kind of go against what the Republic stood for - you would want permission to go through another's space, and making enemies whose resources could go to the sep's isn't the brightest of moves IMO. The Empire, would have no qualms about squashing systems, as thats what they do ;)

Well I just got back from seeing it, it was pretty much what I expected. Fun to watch and overall it was pretty good, a few times I did have to remind myself its kind of a kids movie though.

So this is the kids movie of the bunch?

Episode 1 is the token crap film

Episode 2 is the chick flick

Episode 3 is the emo angst

Episode 4 is the great one

Episode 5 is the even better sequal

Episode 6 is the excellent resolution

and Clone Wars (3.5?) is the kids film.

I totally agree with you.

I kind of agree Ave. But really, The Clone Wars is more of an episode 2.5.

It'd have to be, otherwise Anakin wouldn't have a padawan, and Dooku's in it.

But they're just small things :xp:.

I just got back from seeing it about 30 minutes ago and I really enjoyed the film. It's worth seeing if you're a true Star Wars fan.

Is it worth paying for?

Because I'm sure I'll get to see it eventually, but I'm not sure if I want to spend the $7 at the theater.

I'd say that there was really no character development and the plot was focused almost solely around the action scenes. It would have been nice to see Ventress and Kenobi go one-on-one, but the animation was even worse than live action!

For god's sake! Animation is supposed to allow you to do almost anything without limit... and they screwed it up!

Some of those people don't even seem to be aware of Clone Wars having existed as a series. As well, they don't even really seem to understand what made Star Wars, Star Wars.

Regardless of where you stand on this or the prequels, people shouldn't use incorrect reasoning to support their opinion of dislike. "Too saturday morning" That's what the OT was based on, the idea of Saturday morning serials. Bah, at least stick with truthful things such as "Acting was lackluster and disappointing at best".

Just got back from the late show. A full review later. But for now:

The Good:

Large scale clone wars battles a la the original CW series. **** goes boom!

No crappy love dialog

Some good voice acting, especially by Lee

Clones get some more personality

No Jar Jar

More fun that much of the EU

The Bad:

The music

More slapstick droid humor

Animation is TV quality

Story-lite

The Ugly:

Ashoka. The Jedi should be ashamed of themselves. Thank goodness she is gone/dead by Ep3.

That describes my position to the letter. ;)

That bad, huh? :(

Well, since you asked: I say yes it was worth the money to see it. But hey, that's my opinion.

It's aimed at children - and children usually like fast-paced action, with only a small period of downtime - I don't think they care all that much about Anakin's secrets, or the reasoning why Jabba's son has been kidnapped - they just want to see some FIGHTS!

How have they screwed it up, exactly? I quite like the style they've used. And I don't think animation is supposed to allow endless possibilities. It does, but that doesn't mean you can't tell a proper story with it.

The animation is TV quality because it's the pilot for the TV series, so I don't see why they should have done it any different.

I'd agree with Prime for the most part. Especially regarding Ahsoka, she annoyed me more than Jar Jar. And I thought the dialogue was pretty bad too.

As a Star Wars fan, I'd suggest seeing it, if you could tolerate the prequels. Anybody else who sees it that isn't a fan, probably won't like it much, if at all.

I would like to thank Prime and Commander Obi-Wan for their objectivity.

Well, that does it for me. I'm sure that I'll see it sometime in the future for free, but I refuse to help finance the continued operation of the George Lucas cinematic crap machine. :swear:

I'm too lazy to read everything here, but I just thought I'd pop by and say that it was good light entertainment. I found Ahsoka pretty cute, and Anakin somehow acquired a hilarious button nose  I'll never be able to figure out how she made it through the Jedi vetting process (if they even have one!), but the same holds true for Anakin.
