I gather that the Catholic church appropriated it (in much the same way they did with the Green Man) to better explain the faith: Easter Sunday represents the rebirth of Christ and thus the rebirth of man. No matter what religion you are, Cadbury eggs are awesome. Oh and happy Easter. I didn't know that this was when the Jesus-egg hatched. Granted, it's been a while since I looked at the bible, but I always thought that after Original Jesus was killed, an egg was found in his tomb, hatching into rabbit-Jesus, who now gives people chocolate produced in his elf sweatshops, while flying around the world in a rabbit-drawn sleigh.
