Samnmax221
"Orchard Park businessman charged in beheading of wife" Linky Friends expressed shock on Friday that the founder of a Muslim TV channel — which he launched in order to counter violent images of Muslims — has been arrested in his wife’s brutal slaying. Detectives have charged Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder after his wife was found beheaded Thursday at the offices of the cable channel, Bridges TV, in the Village of Orchard Park. The Website for aforementioned cable channel is not surprisingly down for maintenance. EnderWiggin
And he's only up for 2nd degree murder? Not 1st? There is no justice for his wife. I thought 2nd degree was for crimes of passion? If that's the case, then that is justice. Can be punishable with a life sentence, you know. _EW_

Darth333
And he's only up for 2nd degree murder? Not 1st? There is no justice for his wife. I am not sure about the US but I suppose that it is similar to Canada where first degree murder is only for planned and deliberate murder (or murder of a police officer and such). Q
*Looks out window, sees The Mob at the gates of the Bastille* When did we land in 1792? Actually the French used the Guillotine up until 1977. It was quite efficient, and arguably humane. I am not sure about the US but I suppose that it is similar to Canada where first degree murder is only for planned and deliberate murder (or murder of a police officer and such). AFAIK, the US follows the same guidelines. Broadly speaking, of course.

CommanderQ
Oy, this guy should get life, or the Death Sentence, that is,if they still have it in his area. How'd they give him 2nd degree murder? Chopping off someone's head seems pretty first degree, at least to me. I am not sure about the US but I suppose that it is similar to Canada where first degree murder is only for planned and deliberate murder (or murder of a police officer and such). You're probably right on that, but still, un-deliberate murder? Not planned? I realize they have that law for the people who may have accidently killed someone via car or something else, but this type of murder, I would really call it unplanned or not deliberate. It's hard to decapitate someone on accident.
Kjølen
I think what he means is "heat of the moment" murder. 2nd degree covers bar fight murders and killing a wife in anger. 1st degree murder is when you actually plan out the death of someone beforehand. It's like 2nd degree murder and conspiracy to murder combined.

What the ****? Then again I am hardly surprised on some levels. That's messed up, man. I have an idea, why don't we throw him into a compost grinder? What an *******. Decapitated his wife? What for? Religious reasons? She was an infidel? In for life and throw away the keys... and when we get sick of supporting him on our tax dollars, off him. There is not room for that in our society. Sickening. Samnmax221
Decapitated his wife? What for? Religious reasons? She was an infidel? Last I heard they hadn't really released much other than that they were estranged. One thing some more conservative Muslims seem to forget is that "honor killings" are not legal in the "First World", it's hard to say if it was an "honor killing" or a just domestic dispute.
