Astor
(This BBCode requires its accompanying plugin to work properly.) What's the general view of this new version of Robin Hood? I think it certainly looks like it'll be a refreshing change from some of the CGI-packed nonsense we've seen in cinemas lately (I'm looking at you, Michael Bay). It looks darker than previous tellings of the story, and it looks like there's a fair bit of action set in the Crusades, too. The cast looks promising, with Crowe and Blanchett as the main characters, but also William Hurt as William Marshal (although i'm not too sure about that), and Max von Sydow as Marion's father. The only thing that worries me is that the American actors will have have really bad accents. Although, a star-studded cast doesn't necessarily mean it'll be great. Anyway, i'll let everyone express their thoughts now. I've included a poll, which isn't meant to be anything more than a bit of fun. EDIT: Wiki link
Pho3nix
The trailer doesn't look super promising, but I'm definitely looking forward to it since Gladiator is one of my favorite movies of all time. I have a feeling it will turn out to be 'decent', not bad bud not epic at any scale either :/
SW01
I don't know if it can beat this, but it does seem like something worth watching. Scott and Crowe did brilliantly well with Gladiator, so I'd hope they can bring the same scale to this. If a trailer's anything to go by, it should be good. Q
Well, it wouldn't have to try very hard to outdo that Prince of Thieves abomination. A real movie with real actors and a real director. They still make those?
Endorenna
It might be good. When they come out with a trailer that says something about the story and not just about the action, I'll decide whether I want to see it when it comes out or not. PS: I've never seen Gladiator, so the thing about being directed by the same guy doesn't mean much to me.
jonathan7
I'm really looking forward to it, I can't remember a bad film Russell Crowe has ever been in and Ridely Scott + Russell Crowe = Win. Will be really interested to see what they have done to the Robin Hood legend! Well, it wouldn't have to try very hard to outdo that Prince of Thieves abomination. I actually really liked Prince of Thieves Sure Nottingham seems to extend from the borders of Scotland (Hadrian s Wall), to the white cliffs of Dover, to Leeds Castle, and then all the way across the sea into Carcassone in France; but despite that I still love it
CommanderQ
Well, this one certaily looks better then the other Robin Hood adaptations, and Ridley Scott has a good record of making films like this, and Gladiator was very successful and very awesome. I think I would definately check this one out when it comes in my area. I don't know if it can beat , but it does seem like something worth watching. Oy, SW01....that's just too awesome to be beat

mimartin
Well, it wouldn't have to try very hard to outdo that Prince of Thieves abomination. Yes, we all know the movie was terrible, but it did have Alan Rickman’s Sheriff of Nottingham. I still get a chuckle out of, “Locksley. I’ll cut your heart out with a spoon.” Ridley Scott's version looks interesting, but I'll take the wait and see approach.

Miltiades
It's not on the top of my list, but another Ridley/Crowe combo always gets my attention. However, somehow I've got a hard time imagining Russell Crowe as Robin Hood.
Qui-Gon Glenn
Heh... hadn't heard about this, but I am interested as well. Robin Hood was one of my favorite characters as a child, although I believed he was a fox for years too long... Disney.... Actually, the only thing bad about PoT was Costner, ok BAD needs more emphasis than I can provide. That said, Freeman and Rickman were excellent, and Mastrontonio (sp?) is easy to look at. As for Crowe/Scott - meh... I have a personal dislike of Crowe, even though he has done some great acting. Ridley Scott could sell me a Commodore Amiga and I'd think it was a treasure. adamqd
random fact= Russel Crowe came in my Mum and Dads Pub in Derbyshire, while filming this, had some food, a Beer, and bought my Parents a bottle of wine. Really cool guy apparently. OT= Robin Hood is always good tbh, look forward to it.

Pavlos
I do like Ridley Scott so hopefully this should be worth seeing. Although, I found Kingdom of Heaven to be horrendously boring. So is this Robin Hood going to have an English accent? I don't really mind an American Robin Hood, myself. Especially since if we really wanted authenticity he'd be speaking in the South Yorkshire dialect of Middle English which I imagine might pose difficulties so far as understanding is concerned. I can't find a example right now but the beginning of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, a poem written in the reasonably nearby West Cheshire dialect, should give an idea: SIÞEN þe sege and þe assaut watz sesed at Troye, Þe borȝ brittened and brent to brondeȝ and askez, Þe tulk þat þe trammes of tresoun þer wroȝt Watz tried for his tricherie, þe trewest on erthe: Hit watz Ennias þe athel, and his highe kynde, Þat siþen depreced prouinces, and patrounes bicome Welneȝe of al þe wele in þe west iles. Doesn't have as much Norse in it as Yorkshire, though. Edit: I'll stop now.

Ctrl Alt Del
Eh, trailer makes it impossible to express a solid opinion. I'll wait and see, but I'm probably going to watch at theaters anyway. PS: I've never seen Gladiator, so the thing about being directed by the same guy doesn't mean much to me. Does that even exist? God, rent a copy nao. I'm really looking forward to it, I can't remember a bad film Russell Crowe has ever been in and Ridely Scott + Russell Crowe = Win. And directed by Ridley Scott himself no less. Seriously, not a bad movie, but still a letdown. You should at least check out the battle with the Germans at the film's beginning. It's pretty epic, esp on a movie screenEasily my dad's favorite part of the movie. Now that I think of it, mine too.
Endorenna
Does that even exist? God, rent a copy nao. Meh. I might get it from the library sometime. My sister watched it; she liked it, but she said the fights got kinda ridiculous at some points. And directed by Ridley Scott himself no less. Seriously, not a bad movie, but still a letdown. Agreed. I watched it the other day for the first time (yea, I usually watched movies a few years after they've come out ). It was okay, but it's not something I'd watch a lot. It's a good opening scene, if you can get past the fact that the Germanic war chant at the beginning of the battle is identical to the chanting from Zulu. Yeah, you have to ignore a lot if you're minimally into ancient history. But despite history's butchering at some parts, the movie is completely enjoyable.
