lolz...this is obviously aimed at school aged kids... my main mingling crowds are:

a)fellow health professionals(ie. mainly doctors, physios, community nurses etc),

b)fellow masters students(which include A)

c)fellow members of the Turkish/Islamic community

d) friends and family - of course (includes a, b and c)

when I was in high school I have to admit, the kids from non anglo backgrounds stuck together, and the Anglo kids kept to themselves. There was some intermingling, but overall a strong sense of segregration. It was sortve sad looking back on it, but that was the way things were :( As an interesting tidbit, I went to the same school as star of Hulk, Troy and Munich Eric Bana (though he was probably gone by the time that I started)

Back in school I could pretty much fit anywhere... my range of friends was extremely broad. Different backgrounds, social groups, etc... dunno how I got to be in that position but it was pretty good, I got to hang out with a lot of different groups and came to understand a lot of them very well.

XD I'm reminded of a funny/strange story though... there was this new kid at school one year and I forget how, but during a class he got really pissed off at me somehow and he stood up and started yelling at me telling me he's about to beat the s*** out of me. I just sat there looking very uninterested in him, just looking at him like :dozey:. Before he could do anything the teacher dragged him out of the class, I smiled and waved to him as he was being dragged out XD

The next day in class, he comes and sits next to me... but he's acting like he's a really good friend now, all friendly and nice, as if nothing had happened. I have no idea what happened but he never started anything with me ever again.

When I was in HS we had a sort of anti-clique group. Everyone was welcome. Some of us did the band thing, some of us were the science nuts, some of us were computer geeks, some of us did debate, some of us were volunteers in various groups (I did hospital volunteering--go figure :) ), some were punk/heavy metal types, some of us did only Christian music, and so on. We all were pre-college and Star Wars fans, though. A couple people did some sports--I think basketball, volleyball, and fencing, but none of us really fell into the jock category. We had a huge range of religions/beliefs--agnostic, sort-of Satanist/Wicca, Pentecostal, Baptist, Catholic, I think someone was interested in Buddhism, you name it. That made for some very interesting conversations.

My circle now includes other medical professionals, our history re-enactment group, family, friends, and folks from our church, not in any particular order.

I'd have to say other. Rock is my favourite type of music, but that doesn't mean that I don't listen to a lot of other types of music, including classical music. According to the results of the IQ tests, I'm well above average, so that would be the geek part. I'm interested in technology and its development, in computers, in programming (which is what I'll be studying at college as of this October, so don't be surprised if in the future you start playing games that I, or rather the company I dream of founding in some point in my life, made and published), but also in mythology, and history to a certain degree. But what I'm interested more than anything right now are girls, or rather young women. What can I say, I'm nineteen, it comes with the age. :D

I consider myself lucky. My group of friends, a mixture of both genders that is quite rare at my school, all have one thing in common.

No status quo.

It's a state of bliss to have no stereotype, really. Everyone gets along with everyone, and aside from the mediocre school staff (see my posts in the school days thread) who pretty much ruin our lives anyways, my social life is pretty great.

Whoa, I just posted something positive about something that makes me feel good. That hasn't happened in a long time. :D

Well, as there isn't a car nut category i have to go with other. That said, in HS I never really was in a clique, and my friends detested them. My HS friends were really from all categories: stoners, geeks, car nuts, (US)football players with a brain, and many many more who defy categorization.

i hang out with a rather diverse buch of people. since most of us are college level or beyond, our tastes naturally vary quite a bit since following all those stupid little groups based on this and that is way too ignorant. sometimes i wonder why kids do that in the first place...

I have a pretty broad group of friends. Being the lone Star Wars nut on the football and basketball teams, I hang out with the guys from those teams as well as the more non-athletic groups who probably more closely relate to my interests.

So in short, I'm not really in one "social group."
