Negative Sun
See Poll question... I wear glasses myself, but I'm roughly a -1.00 Sphere so I only need them for distance like the telly and when I'm at the movies or if I would be driving (which I don't) What about Y'all? If you know your prescription (even roughly), do share...
Jae Onasi
Before cataract surgery: -14.25 -1.25 x 180 (give or take a quarter or 2 cyl and give or take 5 or 10 degrees in the axis OU) After: -1.50 -1.25 x 180 OD -2.75 -1.50 x 175 OS We undercorrected on purpose, in case you're wondering. It works great in the office because I can take off my glasses for pretty much everything and I don't have to tip my head way up to see the phoropter through bifocals. I wear mostly glasses, though I will wear bifocal contacts now and then for going out or taekwondo testing or other things that don't require ultra-crisp vision. Negative Sun
Do you prefer bifocals over varifocals Jae? Or is it just necessity? I had to transpose that in my head cause we work in + Cyl, but it doesn't make that much of a difference...It's tricky when you're dispensing though, I almost wrote it it wrong once lol, much fun that would've been for the patient to come in and get the wrong prescription just cause I though a minus was a plus... When did you get your cataracts done?
mimartin
I wear mostly extended wear contacts, but sometimes glasses. My eyes are real sensitive to light so I always wear sunglasses when outdoors. Right 3.25 Left 2.25 I’ve had the same prescription for the last five years and before that they were actually worse. Thought about the surgery, but one of the possible side effects scared me off. I love to drive at night and the halo effect didn’t sound like much fun.

Pho3nix
I've never had to wear glasses. Good thing I was born with Legolas vision. I'll have to though, when I get older.

John Galt
I'm extremely nearsighted. 4.75/4.25 and in need of prescription update. My glasses got scratched up badly at disney world a coupla years ago, and I had to go without 'em while they had new lenses ground at lenscrafters. I swear I tripped over every column in that park, and in the motel...
REDJOHNNYMIKE
Mine's pretty good, I have good eyesight over long distances, but my main pro and con is my nightvision, I can see really well most nights, and have even been stopped by police occasionally for not realizing I didn't have my headlights on, but I am really sensitive to light and usually need sunglasses when I'm outside or I get a headache. I don't like light in general though.
milo
I don't wear glasses, though I may need to get them sometime in the future. I have great vision in my left eye (20/15) and terrible vision in my right eye (20/40). My doctor says it's 'cause my right eye is lazy and my left eye has to compensate for it or something. It's steadily getting worse as I get older, so eventually I'll have to do something about it.
Jeff
I wear contacts, I think my prescription is -2.5. I have an old pair of glasses that I wear at night when I take them out but I never wear them besides then, the prescription is old and they're kinda bent up and scratched. JasraLantill
Used to wear glasses, but had PRK laser surgery in 1998. So, now I'm slightly nearsighted in the Right eye (-1.25sph) and 20/20 (Plano) vision in the Left eye. Won't need any 'reading glasses' for a long long time. When did you get your cataracts done? Ophthalmology works in + cyl because they have not dragged their tushies into the modern age of - cyl. The optics with - cyl are slightly better than with + cyl, according to a number of studies done by Glenn Fry (not to be confused with the singer) and other giants in the optics field. I have the no-line bifocals (progressive), which I much prefer over lined. I need to get a computer pair made--I have a short corrider lens so the intermediate's not very wide, and Jimbo's desk is high, along with the monitor, so I have to tip my head up to see the top half of the screen. Cataracts were done about 5 years ago. Had Yag done OU about 3 years ago, so I'm pretty well set. I thought about doing Lasik on the more nearsighted eye to make that one closer to plano, but I haven't felt particularly motivated to go do it, and I sure don't want to do an IOL exchange with my risk for CME, so I just go along with the glasses. RC-1162
I'm quite short-sighted. R: -4.25 L: -3.75 Getting worse now, I think. :X
Diego Varen
I don't know my prescription, but I'm short sighted and have got slightly worse, due to being on the computer, etc. I wear glasses, which I've worn more over time, but I might try contacts, but they don't seem natural... Emperor Devon
Glasses ftw! Contacts are too much of a bother to be taking in and out all the time, and they're not as geeky. (Which is a bad thing ) ...but I might try contacts, but they don't seem natural... No less natural than your eyesight-ruining computer.
Bee Hoon
I have terrible eyesight:P I wear contacts when I feel like it. Plus it looks better with some clothes and I can wear sunnies! I'm pretty sensitive to light so I find it quite hard to drive without sunnies in this wonderful tropical sunlight:X
Samuel Dravis
Glasses ftw! Contacts are too much of a bother to be taking in and out all the time, and they're not as geeky. (Which is a bad thing )I agree, Dev-Dev! That's what I always say as well. It's crazy, I think everyone on the chatbox peers at the monitor through their glasses. ChAiNz.2da
Not sure of my actual prescription.. the Dr. just punches a few keys on the ole 'puter and I get me some glasses Myopia (near-sighted) for me with severe light sensitivity due to medication for chronic migraines (yeah, I'm well beyond broken and my warranty has expired ). I wear contacts mostly (if I have my sunglasses), however when the time comes to wear the glasses, it's the photochromic style that will self-darken depending on the amount of real (UV) light that hits them. SithRevan
I actually wear glasses... though that's about as much as I can tell you, I can't seem to remember my actual perscription. Needless to say though I perfer glasses over contacts as I just haven't had a very good experience over all with them and to tell the truth I look pretty good with or without them. Plus, I have designer glasses so... you can imagine how much I spent on them.
Master Zionosis
Well, i just recently found out I have to wear glasses, but i went all defensive, saying things like NO WAY AHH!!, basically screaming my head off, then i remembered there are such things called contact lenses, but then i also realized you have to basically put something in your eye , So asap I'm getting laser eye surgery. Unless someone can tell me how annoying and hard it is to put in and wear contact lenses?
