DeadYorick
My all time favorite movies are a tie. Between Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Very strict tie, because of the fact that Evil Dead 2 was practically the first horror movie that I actually liked and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly kicked so much ass. What I do have are movies I consider to be so good they never get old, like for example: Forrest Gump Fight Club American History X The Green Mile Blood Diamond Saving Private Ryan Casino Pulp Fiction (Indiana Jones and Star Wars series are implied, of course)
Bee Hoon
- V for VendettaI meh back at you The graphic novel was WAY better. Srsly.
The Doctor
Lemme get this straight. There's a thread about awesome movies, and there's only one mention of A Beautiful Mind and none of any Jimmy Stewart movies? Not even his Hitchcock films? Jimmy Stewart > Humphrey Bogart. For shame, Ahto. FOR SHAME!
SkywalkerRules
Oh, let me think... Ah! I've got some: The Good Son Norbit King Kong Star Wars saga Lord of the Rings trilogy Edward Scissorhands (this movie totally made me cry...) Kung Fu Panda Mamma Mia! Winnie the Pooh (my mom gave me the nickname Poohbear ) Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls

There's a thread about awesome movies, and there's only one mention of A Beautiful Mind and none of any Jimmy Stewart movies? Not even his Hitchcock films? Personally, I don't care for A Beautiful Mind, but you are right about Jimmy Stewart. It's a Wonderful Life The Philadelphia Story The Man who shot Liberty Valance And the list goes on.... Darth_Yuthura
With this kind of question, I tend to say what I think is the most underrated movie ever, since I could never get my fave movies down to a list less than thirty. Therefore : The Hudsucker Proxy. Far too few have seen it. I rather liked that one. "Not that way... through the door!" It was a bit ridiculous to see Tim Robins acting like a moron far too often. The plot was interesting enough as it was, but the humor added and detracted from the film.
JCarter426
My favorite is Serenity. No, I don't think it's the greatest movie ever made, but I can watch it again and again and it never gets old. The Man who shot Liberty Valance A classic, if there ever was one.
mimartin
Jimmy Stewart > Humphrey Bogart. I'll give you equal too, but not greater than. IMO Cary Grant > Humphrey Bogart = Jimmy Stewart = Henry Fonda = Kirk Douglas > John Wayne The Man who shot Liberty Valance Cannot believe I left this one off. Not only does it have Jimmy Stewart, but John Wayne and Lee Marvin. It's a Wonderful Life Watch it every Christmas eve after everyone else is asleep. I have a difficult time discussing Jimmy Stewart without bringing up Henry Fonda and Kirk Douglas. One of my favorites that stars both men is There Was a Crooked Man (1970). Another favorite of mine is Mio Nome e Nessuno, II” or My Name is Nobody (1973) staring Henry Fonda and Terence Hill. How can a movie that offers wisdom like “Folks that throw dirt on you aren't always trying to hurt you, and folks that pull you out of a jam aren't always trying to help you. But the main point is when you're up to your nose in sh*t, keep your mouth shut,” not me considered a classic. The graphic novel was WAY better. The book is always better, unless the reader has absolutely no imagination.
ET Warrior
My favorite is Serenity <3 I was going to lose faith in humanity if that movie didn't get mentioned.
Astor
Cannot believe I left this one off. Not only does it have Jimmy Stewart, but John Wayne and Lee Marvin. Well, if we're going to mention The Duke: Stagecoach The Searchers (already mentioned) Rio Bravo (also had Dean Martin he could do serious-ish roles) True Grit - Duke's only Oscar? really? The Shootist - His last film, and one I think to be one of his greatest, as it mirrored the end of his life. And Westerns in General High Noon The Gunfighter 3.10 to Yuma (both versions - the remake is just as good as the first) Wyatt Earp - Forget the overhyped 'Tombstone' - Costner's about as close to Earp as anyone has ever come. Astrotoy7
I could list 100 faves per genre, but if I really had to pick just one, it's TESB of course. I love Lynch, Kurosawa, Hitchcock, Kobayashi, Bunuel, Almedovar etc, but TESB just resonates, no matter how much time has passed. I'm generally not a fan of American cinema(if you can call it that), but that film represents a richness of visual storytelling that has a very timeless, classical quality. mtfbwya
EnderWiggin
Mamma Mia! I heard this was awful. Agree/Disagree/Qualify, anyone? Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls Teehee. This movie was a tradition for us in High School. _EW_
mimartin
3.10 to Yuma (both versions - the remake is just as good as the first)[/Quote] Agreed, I was very surprised that the remake was so good. I may even lean towards it being the better version. Russell Crowe and Christian Bale were both excellent. Glenn Ford was an excellent actor, but I just could not believe Ford as an outlaw. Crowe on the other hand…

Commander Obi-Wan
I love a lot of movies. I can list so many. My list of course includes Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Indy. But, I'd have to say that as of late, Casino Royale, In Bruges, and The Dark Knight would be amongst my favourites.
