Mandalore The Shadow
I just thought it would be cool if everyone said their favorite line from a song and the song its from. Mine is Cave In by: Owl City The line is: Because we've heard it said that every mushroom cloud has a silver lining

Chevron 7 locke
Did you wear a black armband when they shot the man who said peace could last forever? - Guns n Roses Civil War One of my all time favorite lines. We've got a kinder, gentler machine gun hand. -Keep on Rockin in the free world

Jeff
THE WHO \m/ I have never really thought about this before, but one of my absolute favorite songs is Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd and I just love all the lyrics to that song, but this line is pretty good: We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year <

Astor
We'll meet again by Vera Lynn. It's an old song, but it's nice and optimistic against the backdrop of a dark period in our history. We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when, But I know we'll meet again, some sunny day.

Salzella
The way that they treat me completely destroys me The looks that they send me offend me, annoy me Eyeing the prize with a sideways smile Randomly violent, that's my style. Pavlos
In the courtroom of honor, the judge pounded his gavel To show that all's equal and that the courts are on the level And that the strings in the books ain't pulled and persuaded And that even the nobles get properly handled Once that the cops have chased after and caught 'em And that the ladder of law has no top and no bottom, Stared at the person who killed for no reason Who just happened to be feelin' that way without warnin'. And he spoke through his cloak, most deep and distinguished, And handed out strongly, for penalty and repentance, William Zanzinger with a six-month sentence. Oh, but you who philosophize disgrace and criticize all fears, Bury the rag deep in your face For now's the time for your tears. From "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll" on Dylan's The Times They Are a-Changing. Why? Listen to the ends of the lines; they all end on an unstressed, a feminine, syllable (a falling sound): "his gavel [...] the level [...] persuaded [...] handled" and so on. Now look at those final three lines. The final syllable is stressed on all three: [...] disgrace and criticize all fears, Bury the rag deep in your face For now's the time for your tears. The rhetorical contrast between the earlier fading, dying endings and these strong masculine sounds is fantastic. The sense of drama that this lends the three-lines which hold the "message" of the piece is the sign of a true song-writer who uses his words as well as his music to effect. Edit: The effect's there right the way through the song, of course, because those three lines are a variation on the refrain which comes after every stanza. But it's at its most effective here as we're finally, after three stanzas of being ordered to "take the rag away" from our faces, told to "bury [it] deep" in them. Edit to the edit: We'll meet again by Vera Lynn. It's an old song, but it's nice and optimistic against the backdrop of a dark period in our history. We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when, But I know we'll meet again, some sunny day. Unfortunately, I can't help but associate that with the ending of Dr. Strangelove now.
