Memories...

Recommended Posts

Sorry if there is already a Thread on this, but can any of you LF members remember the day you joined.

I joined LF on the 8th January 2006, because of the Unknown Regions part of the Forums. I found LF through Google and starwarsknights.com. I saw Achille's Influence Guide and found a link to LF. I joined four days after I'd discovered it.

So post about when you joined and why. How did you discover LF on the Internet?

I don't have to remember it when I can simply look at my public profile - January 28th 2006.

I too joined because of the Unknown Regions, but I discovered it while searching for the infamous Droid Factory modules.

To be quite honest... I had been trying to find it for a long time before I finally stumbled across it. Through a combination of being directed to Halowon labs and my own stupidity, the journey took longer than expected...

Ah the thousand and one modding questions I asked on that fateful day... well week.

I found LF through PCgamemods, while looking for Half-Life 2 mods (realizes how much he misses Gary's mod and starts crying:(), at the time I'd pretty much stopped playing KotOR. I clicked on a link to Holowan, looked around, and if I remember correctly, got into an argument (no, really?;)) about wether or not KotOR should use a new graphics engine for the next game, the rest is history.........

Man. I just looked at my first post. I was a different guy then...

I think I join on the twentieth or twenty-first of August of the '05.

I wanted to do some modding (I thought that it'd be like click, click, click, I'm done. Boy was I wrong) and figured this was the place to go.

I haven't been to Holowan in so long...

I started playing KotOR on the Xbox during 2004's Christmas break while my brother was home visiting and got hooked on the game. I started looking for information about KotOR on the Internet in January 2005 and found starwarsknights.com which led me to LF. When I started reading about all the KotOR mods people had created for the PC version I went out and bought the PC version of the game (it was only $20USD). Initially I was just lurking, reading all the different mod threads I was interested in but in February 2005 I started having some problems using multiple mods so I decided to join LF so I could post my questions.

I think I first found these forums briefly in 2002 or so, looking for some information for Jedi Academy or Jedi Outcast. Don't remember if I posted anything or registered though. If I did I don't remember that password any more. :)

More recently I was passively lurking for about a month or so in the StarWarsKnights Holowan forum in february/march 2004, looking for some tools to mod KotOR with.

Most recently I was checking Holowan for updated modding tools for Kotor2:TSL in March 2005, when I had just gotten that game and finished it once. I happened upon a topic in Holowan Labs I knew something about since I had started looking into that subject myself a few days earlier, so I finally delurked and posted, and have kind of gotten stuck here since. :)

Like many of the awesome 2002 crew, I joined to find out about and discuss Jedi Outcast... That game is definitely the bridging title between the old and new generations of Lucasarts titles... I spent my first 1500 posts purely on the JK forums. There was a lull and then a return for JA :)

After the JA buzz died down(expedited by the release of KOTOR) I ended up becoming a swamp regular and eventually being granted the honour of being a mod in the EU area, as I was eager to put some energy into it as I loved SW EU :) I made brief forays into SWK but the community area was still a bit slow back then.

In 2005 I decided to leave the swamp and settled in AHTO, aka the 'proto-swamp' :p In AHTO I saw the potential for a great "community" area (like the swamp), and decided to get in on it :) AHTO has indeed become a thriving community area, and whilst it may be the "clean swamp" I would tend to prefer it that way as dust ups over at the swamp were sometimes unpleasant :(

lolz...that is the torrid story of my life at LFN :violin:

I was dragged kicking and screaming... oh wait, that was a different forum :o

I too, lurked for about a month or so looking for information on, yeah you guessed.. making a custom saber ;)

I actually didn't post however until a day after my first mod was released.. and it got a whopping 3 posts I think.. hehehe :xp:

Revan's Robes and saber (yeah, how original am I :disaprove )

After that I tried tackling a bigger mod.. and much to RedHawke's, Achilles & T7nowhere's dismay.. they made the mistake of helping me.. :D

So here I was, a lost puppy and 3 experienced modders come to the rescue and repeatedly atttempting to tell me something I was trying do was impossible... After about 6 failed attempt.. I "realized" hey.. those guys know what they're talking about..and needless to say I got it to work the way the way they were telling me how to in the first place... ahh, memories...

Here's the thread (from a split) many moons ago.. posts #17 & #18 are my personal favs.. and yes :headbump is still my favorite emote.. hehehe

http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=138494

and then there came scripting.. and I was introduced to tk102 & Darth333.. but that's a story for another time ;)

^^^ Ha ha ha.

I had just gotten KotOR for Xmas and was looking for some forums about the game. I had never modded a game before and when I came upon Holowan Labs, I was amazed at the idea. Someone had posted a link to Bioware's game file format documentation and I thought, hey maybe I could program something. I started looking at .bif files with the idea of making an extraction tool, but then Fred Tetra came out with his first version of KotOR Tool so I turned my attention instead to savegame editing.

I just followed a link connected to the starwarsknights website. I wasn't interested at first in playing with mods but when I read the descriptors, I couldn't get enough. now alternate them around for some fun. I joined LF in 2005 and started in the convos. After a few 'friendly' reminders on the rules I settled into the groove and for some reason I have continued talking to you bunch of wierdoes. :xp:

Just kidding
